"We are Chicken Pie Puppets what can we do for you? Come along and join us, we're all waiting for you!"

 

Chicken Pie Puppets was an online theatre puppetry company made up of Tamsin Stone and Natalie Goodacre in which we created videos for YouTube with Pelham marionette puppets.

 

 I have been interested in YouTube for a while and particularly enjoy watching comedy videos. I was inspired by existing YouTube channels such as Potter Puppet Pals and Glove and Boots as they both use puppetry and have comedic styles. 

 

We looked at different genres of YouTube video and created videos that relate to these categories. We recreated videos such as Gingers Do Have Souls, Fenton, and Miley Cyruss' Wrecking Ball all with our Pelham Marrionette puppets. We were keen to only create videos that were current to contrast with the old fashioned aesthetic of the puppets and their surroundings. We also played with the genres of Youtube video such as the Makeup video and the Film Review video. 

 

Prior to this project I had little experience with filming or editing so this project was a great oppertunity to develop those skills. I also gained skills in puppetry and as our videos were mainly improvised I was able to develop my improvisation skills. Listen to our theme tune at the bottom of the page!
